   Two weeks later...
Cian watched proudly as Wilson rocked their son, humming a lullaby to sooth him. He’d made it a habit of doing so every night, his own bonding ritual that saw no interruptions. He took to fatherhood really well and embraced the new role and jokingly corrected Cian each time she called him anything by ‘Daddy’.

With each kiss he placed on Cillian’s head she felt her love for him grow deeper. He’d loved Cillian the moment he learned of this existence and loved her just the same. Moving to the quietest end of the island, being away from everyone else permitted them to have moments like this; peaceful moments that didn’t require words or any kind of sound for everything was said through their eyes, smiles, and touch.

Wilson glanced over at her and mimicked her smiled before ducking his head to whisper something into the baby’s ear. During Cian’s pregnancy he had his own tradition of pressing his mouth against her stomach while she slept to have small conversation with the baby just to feel him move and make sure he knew everyday how much he was loved and wanted. He’d tell him stories of his childhood with mommy, the good memories that he and Cian still looked back on and laughed about and all of the plans he had for them. He looked forward to their future together and very often reflected on the past to help him appreciate the position they were currently in.

He walked Cillian over to his mother, turning him slightly so she could kiss his cheek before laying him in his bassinet. “Can Daddy get one of those now?” He wiggled his eyebrows pulling her into a kiss without waiting for an answer. She obliged still smiling as the softness of his lips brushed against hers.

“Why are you in such a good mood?” He couldn’t help but to return the smile as he pulled his lips away and brushed her hair away from her face. “Because of this.” She motioned between them then to Cillian. “Because of us.” She shook her head with another proud smile as she locked eyes with her son. Wilson turned his head in the same direction with his arms wrapped tight around Cian’s waist. The realization hit them both at that moment and they knew this time of never ending smiles and sunshine would be met by cloudy days and even storms. Although their parents were out of their lives and Ramone was in prison serving 5 years for each rape he’d been linked to including the cases in the states, they were parents now and had a new set of issues that neither was exactly prepared for. They’d proven their love and devotion to each other by leaving everyone behind and starting a new life on the island despite the protests and threats from both families but the real test would come as they watched their son grow older and face a different type of discrimination that they’d never be able to run away from. Being of two different races, two different cultures, they’d have to teach him how to be confident with both as well as how to live life proud of who he is, where he comes from, and how to stand strong through the storms sure to come. Most of all, they’d have to teach him the one thing they fought so hard to be, colorblind.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! For following this challenge with me! This is the end of the SimFic50 Challenge but I am working on a solid plot for a sequel. Wow, what a beautiful ending. Cillian is too much cuteness. I'm thrilled they've finally arrived at happiness, and they're taking such a realistic approach to parenting a biracial child. It will def not be easy with all the ignorance and deep seated stereotypes in both their families and the society around them. But I have no doubt in my mind they'll do an amazing job in raising him to be colorblind.

Can't wait to see what you come up with for the sequel.

And congrats on completing the challenge. It's been amazing rigth from the first prompt.

Great job!

Just fabulous, Qui. You depicted every trial they went thru so honestly and realistically; we grew to love these two for their sense of self as well as the awesome thing they became together. I was so glad to be along for this ride, and can't wait to see how they handle what life sends them next!

Qui, this was one of the most gritty, passionate, carefully and sympathetically written stories I have ever read. I love Cian and Wilson and hope all the best for their son.

Whatever you decide to write, I will be chasing it down!

oh qui...

this was just wonderful. Your writing is just so inspiring, the risks and honesty in it. I really really really hope you continue with your writing. You're so good.

Cillian is the CUTEST ever omg... I love his little curls!! And the scene between these two was so sweet and touching.

I'm so jealous of your conclusions, haha. I have never been able to close out stories with as much grace and such a contented sigh as you do. <3333

I'm late to the story but have to let you know I loved it. It was so well written and I am happy that they finally got their happy ending, at least so far.

On to read the sequel now.
