Wilson’s fist connected with the soft flesh of Ramone’s lips, the single blow knocked him off of his feet.

"I don't hear you talking that shit now!" Wilson shouted, circling him like a shark to it's wounded prey.

“You get off on hurting women, huh?” Wilson paced, “Mr. Cool, Rico motherfucking Suave himself is a woman beater?”  He chuckled, nudging Ramone with his foot. "Has to force women to do what he wants?" He’d lost it, all sense of being calm, rational, and being strong for Cian. Ramone had pushed him to the point of no return and he'd allowed it, charged him like a raging bull, an angry lion protecting its mate. 

“Get up, Bitch!” Wilson shouted, drawing back his foot, kicking Ramone hard in his ribs. “You can hit women, get up and hit me!” He continued to kick Ramone with each attempt to get up. Ramone turned to his back, looked up at the sky as it released heavy drops of rain onto his face and laughed, spitting out blood in Wilson's direction. Livid, Wilson bent over and pulled Ramone to his feet, half way up, he punched Ramone again, splitting his lip further. 

He held Ramone by his neck delivering blow after blow, ignoring Cian’s cries for him to stop. He was too far gone for reason and for a split second, thought about continuing until Ramone’s body lay motionless on the cold wet concrete. With each blow, he thought of Renee, thought of what Ramone said about hurting Cian,and the hell he couldn’t only imagine Ramone had put Anna through.

“Wilson please!” Cian begged him, crying over the loud patter of rain and rumble of thunder. “Let’s just go Wilson, please!” She ran toward him and held his arm. He glance over his shoulder at her and instantly felt guilt for allowing her to see him that way. Wilson roughly released the back of Ramone’s neck, allowing his head the hit the ground with a popping sound. He stood over him straightening his clothes, “This is the last time I’m going to tell you,” He stepped over him and roped his arm around Cian’s, “Stay away from her!”

Wilson pulled Cian toward his car, too overwhelmed with guilt to look at her. Would she still love him after this? See him as some angry, violent monster, incapable of self-control?  No better than Ramone? He’d pushed her in his quest to get to Ramone, a regrettable action he'd never stop apologizing for, something he’d never forgive himself for doing.

Wilson dug his hand into his pocket to retrieve the keys when they both heard shuffling behind them. 

Wilson glanced over his shoulder slightly and for the second time, pushed Cian out of the way. Ramone lunged at them with a sharp six inch blade tightly clenched in his fist. Wilson raised his hand, catching Ramone’s arm in the air. They struggled, fell onto the ground and began to roll around, the knife buried between them.

Cian was slow getting up from the ground, everything around her was spinning, and the cool wet ground sent her body into shock. She heard a deep gasp and forced her eyes to adjust to the sight as her ears tried to pinpoint the sound. In a split second, Ramone laid still on the ground, Wilson knelt before him, pushing himself to his feet. “Wilson?” She called to him in a low broken tone.

He backed up toward her, his eyes focused on Ramone as a pool of blood formed around his body and his chest heaved rapidly. “Wilson?” She called to him again. 

Wilson turned to her, his face apologetic as he held his hands firmly against his abdomen. He took another step toward her and dropped to his knees, his eyes conveying one last apology.
