4. The Hold Out

A long hot bath and two short stories was all it took for Cillian to fall asleep. Wilson backed out of the room slowly, pulling Cillian’s door to as he exited with a small prayer that he wouldn’t awaken until morning.
He followed a small string of light streaming from underneath his bedroom door, tugging at his clothes along the way. For the last two weeks, Cian had a reason for not wanting to be intimate. Everything from headaches to Cillian being in their bed had come about. Pulling his shirt over his head as he entered the room, he recalled the way he and Cian couldn’t keep their hands off of each other and all the wild nights they shared as recently as three months before. What’d happened between then and now was beyond him but he was sure the night would end with his wife naked and in his arms.

Cian was coming out of the bathroom when he reached for the knob, pulling at the hem of a short piece of colorful satin that clung to her partial damp skin. He grabbed her hand as she tried to pass him, his fingers trailing down to her finger tips of both hands. She looked into his eyes with question and only received a kiss as an answer.

“Will,” She began but he silenced her with another kiss, pulled her closer to him while his hands took advantage of the exposed skin of her thighs. “Will,” She broke her lips away from his but this time he shushed her. The kiss was deepened as he backed her into the wall then inched his way down to her neck. Cian sighed the moment she felt his tongue gently graze her skin, tickling, taunting, and coaxing her to give in to him. “Cillian…” She whispered through another sigh forcing her hands to stay by her side. “He won’t wake up,” Wilson’s voice vibrated through her as he continued to tenderly stroke her neck with his lips, “you’re all mine.” He assured her slowly moving his hand up her thigh. His knuckles brushed against something soft, more satin that appeared to be trimmed with lace. Wilson froze for a second then went back to what he was doing. Cian never wore panties to bed and when she did it was a sign that she didn’t want to be touched. Wilson disregarded the thin satin barrier and continued to rub his hands up and down her hips before sliding his fingers underneath the straps on her hips, pulling them down slowly. Cian grabbed at his hands stopping him before his hands came over her hips, “I’m not in the mood Will.” Her words weren’t even convincing to her. Her head filled with images the moment she stepped out of the bathroom and saw him standing there shirtless and with eyes glossed over with lust. She wanted his touch just as badly as he was trying to give it but thoughts of another child and images of Cillian crying earlier in the day blurred her need. “Liar!” He whispered running his index finger down the outside of her panties and between her legs. “You want me.” His lips grazed hers for a second. 

He pulled her lip into his mouth, releasing it with a growl, “Admit it. You want me, Baby! I want you.” He purred seductively in her ear causing her to melt with each word. “You want it in Spanish? Italian? Mi permetta di fare l'amore con te, Cian. Let me make love to you.” Cian’s wobbling knees turned to jello and her mind was lost in between his words. Overcome with the desire, she allowed him to successfully remove her panties before she stopped him once again. “Seriously Will,” She eased away from him, “not tonight.”

“You’ve been saying that for the last two week!” He growled following her toward the bed. “What is it Cian? Really? You were just as into it as I was and all of a sudden it’s not tonight?” His agitated tone took on one of concern. What was once a healthy sex life was reduced to cold showers and failing attempts that he was grown tired of.

“Go to bed Will!” She plopped down on the bed, shoving the covers over herself with her back to him.

Wilson stood there for a few seconds watching her lay motionless on the edge of the bed. Something was wrong with her. What, he didn’t know but if she was going to keep denying him the one thing they were both in need of, there was no way he could sleep next to her.
